Baby Steps

So you are not sure of your fitness level? Havn’t stepped outside except to go from your car to the grocery store or work in ages? Lets start with a baby step.

Tampa has some beautiful parks that will at least get you and your kids outside. These trips are very enjoyable for the little tikes and will be a great introduction to perking up interest of what else can be done.

For example:

Lopez Park 026

Al Lopez Park, right across rom the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Raymond James Stadium, provides something for everyone! There are play grounds, a dog park, a fitness trail, paved and rustic trails, fishing and even open soccer games almost daily.

My favorite part of the 2.5 miles of trails is the part that circles the lake. I would love to take you there! In the summer its cool and shaded, there are 2 fishing areas, benches to sit and watch the wildlife (and there is lots of it!)and a few different ways to walk around.

On an average day you will see Blue Tailed Skinks on the wooden trail, the ever present Blue Jays and Mocking Birds trying to be heard above all others, There is a great Blue Heron that like to fish on the  NE side of the lake, and I have often spotted racoons in the trees. There are many varieties of fish in the lake – a great spot for beginners!

Not a Clue Adventures can take you out for a 1/2 day (4 hour) guided walk through the park, including a picnic lunch for $15 USD per person for adults and $5 USD for children (limit 3 per paying adult).

During this trip you will be introduced to many varieties of local flora and fauna. Walking at a slow pace will take about 1.5 hours, if you have children they will be able to have time to play at the playground while we picnic and have question and answer time. Educational and resource materials will be made available for review.

I look forward to meeting you and bringing the outdoors closer to home!

About notacluegal

Jeanene was born in Pittsburgh, PA. As a young child her family was very active in the outdoors. Things changed when her parents decided to travel down different paths in life and with that decision so went many of the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Being lucky to live in the suburbs Jeanene always had a backyard to play in and loved being outdoors. As the years passed she took every opportunity to be outdoors. She bought land in Tennessee and as a single mom moved her young daughter to the mountains. The were many life lessons learned on that mountain. There was no plumbing on the property – or even a house, but that did not stop her. She learned to live off of what was available and built her own cabin from the trees on her property. Those were rough years but the most rewarding. Now Jeanene resides in Tampa, Fl. and works as an office manager full time….but still yeans to be outdoors. Jeanene started “Not a Clue Adventures” to teach everyone she could how wonderful the outdoors are! That camping and fishing and hiking can be done by everyone and at many different levels. Single mom’s no longer have to be afraid to take their sons and daughters outdoors. By working with young couples, single parents and even seniors, she gets to teach others about her love for the outdoors and hopes to open their eyes to new adventures. In 2009, Jeanene completed certification as a Leave No Trace Instructor. She also works closely with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) and the Florida State Parks. Jeanene is also certified in First Aid/Adult CPR.
