Today I took my friends Tara and Chloe out to Hillsborough River State Park. It is always a wonderful trip out there for me when I can introduce this wonderful place to others.
Chloe is almost 6 years old and knows quite a bit about the forest and many of its critters! The first thing she spotted was raccoon tracks on the trail. Not long after that she found a cool frog in a tree stump – he kindly obliged her and came out a bit for a photo or two. Chloe got really excited when seeing a new spider web and found many different species for her mom and me to photograph. Along the river we were treated to 2 gator sightings, Chloe was a little nervous seeing the first one but when she realized she was safe, she came in for a closer look. A small 3 ft black racer was sunning along our path and even a few other creatures. I have posted an album with our finds today for all to enjoy.
Our afternoon ended with a wonderful sighting of the 2 local juvenile Red Shouldered Hawks from the area. It sure was a splendid day for a hike!
