WITO Workshop – Sebastian Inlet May 8-9

What an amazing event this past weekend at Sebastian Inlet State Park. The WITO (Women in the Outdoors) ladies there sure know how to show someone a good time!

I could write pages about all the fun stuff we did but that would only take away from the excitement, for those that read my blog.

So to recap….for the very small fee of $55 per person everyone walked away with door prizes, all our meals were provided and the food was great, and we got some great instruction!

I cannot write this and not thank the many volunteer instructors that gave of their time and materials to make this event possible. So many workshops were offered! Our choices included Ocean Kayaking, Fly and Surf Fishing, See Doo, Outdoor Cooking and Photography, Jewelry Making, Person Protection, Geo-Caching, Cast-netting and more! The camaraderie was a joy in itself. This event had 114 women and their daughters attend. There were women from all over Florida that drove in just to attend this workshop, that alone states how wonderful these workshops are!

About the location… All I can say is “wow”, what a beautiful park they have there at Melbourne Beach. We spent the morning waiting dolphin and manatee play in the surf. Sea birds everywhere! There were lots of flowers growing wild in the dunes. Friday night we saw a sea turtle camp on shore to nest. The full moon glowed beautifully over the calm sea as we dozed off listening to the waves hit the shore. What a great Mother’s Day gift! Many new friends were made on this trip and I was asked to work on doing an event in Tampa.

I am up for the challenge and I have already started forming a committee. Anyone wishing to work on the event with me please contact me at Not a Clue Adventures and you will get to see first hand what all the excitement is really about! You will get to meet some great women and learn some fun activities while you are at it!

About notacluegal

Jeanene was born in Pittsburgh, PA. As a young child her family was very active in the outdoors. Things changed when her parents decided to travel down different paths in life and with that decision so went many of the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Being lucky to live in the suburbs Jeanene always had a backyard to play in and loved being outdoors. As the years passed she took every opportunity to be outdoors. She bought land in Tennessee and as a single mom moved her young daughter to the mountains. The were many life lessons learned on that mountain. There was no plumbing on the property – or even a house, but that did not stop her. She learned to live off of what was available and built her own cabin from the trees on her property. Those were rough years but the most rewarding. Now Jeanene resides in Tampa, Fl. and works as an office manager full time….but still yeans to be outdoors. Jeanene started “Not a Clue Adventures” to teach everyone she could how wonderful the outdoors are! That camping and fishing and hiking can be done by everyone and at many different levels. Single mom’s no longer have to be afraid to take their sons and daughters outdoors. By working with young couples, single parents and even seniors, she gets to teach others about her love for the outdoors and hopes to open their eyes to new adventures. In 2009, Jeanene completed certification as a Leave No Trace Instructor. She also works closely with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) and the Florida State Parks. Jeanene is also certified in First Aid/Adult CPR.
