Time to get on the water and collect some Sea Candy!
Scalloping is a once a year treat in the summertime for residents and tourists
alike. This is a very easy sport and kids of all ages come out to pick up and
hand harvest their own treats from the sea.
Each year we have the opportunity to introduce this activity
to more wonderful persons. This year’s group was just fantastic! With the help
of Good Time Kayaking we were able to furnish all those who needed with kayaks and scalloping gear. Each of the participants got a very generous gift bag from Flint Creek Outfitters and Not a Clue Adventures. Wonderful accommodations
were available this year with Shelter Cove Marina.
We had two days on the water and in between a past participant
Edyie Hollender and her husband Gene cooked up our group a wonderful Low
Country Boil consisting of shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, scallops and more!
As we went out later this year than before scallops were not
plentiful in the shallow waters we kayaked in but we all had a great time and
everyone looking forward to doing the event again next year! I love repeat
