This month I was invited to teach the fireside chat at Hillsborough River State Park by one of the rangers I had met out there recently. For me this was quite an honor as this state park is one of my favorites and holds a special place in my heart.
It was a rainy Saturday evening but we met high and dry in the Cedar Landing Pavillion right alongside the river. Having the screened pavillion was a plus as the mosquitos were pretty excited for the last few days of rain we had been getting and we anxious to dine on anyone that would allow :-).
We had about 30 campers attend the workshop and we went over all of the information and principles offered by “Leave No Trace” Everyone walked away with a new way of looking at the world just outside their tent or RV. The park staff was also on hand to answer specific questions directly related to the park itself adn I could not have done the class without the help of one of my dear friends Deborah Highsmith who took photos and handeled the light for me.
