Shorter Excursion….

In October Not a Clue Adventures partnered with Living Social to offer a “Deal” This being our first time doing advertising in the was I was surprised at our final sale total of over 133 hikes in 24 hours! One of the places I have been taking some or our deal purchasers is Little Manatee River State Park. For $2 per person you can hike the trails and not even have to enter the park. There are 2 loops the short one about 3 miles and in total  the 2 together will be around 7 miles.

We started our hike about 2 pm, really it was more like a stroll. We talked about the different ecosystems and environments. There were many questions about the different plants and animal tracks. The biggest surprise for them though was the amount of damage the feral hogs had dome to the surrounding areas we we waled the trail. Florida has a very serious problem with feral hogs and they cannot be harvested from state parks. This is a shame as so many of our state park lands are suffering from the inability to control this invasive species.

As elevation changed we walked into areas that were more dry and populated, not with the previously seen oak, now more with pine and saw palmetto. We enjoyed the late afternoon sun shining down and the warmth it offered. We walked along boardwalks and crossed bridges all dappled by the suns rays. Three were few bugs due to the cold weather the previous night and that was a welcome relief

This trail was quite enjoyable as were our inquisitive guests. It is such a blessing to be able to share my knowledge of these wonderful spaces with those that truly have an interest in enjoying and preserving them. We were finished with our hike in just under 3 hours and everyone was ready for dinner. We said our goodbyes as if we were old friends and I can only hope I have sparked enough of an interest to have them join us on another excursion!

About notacluegal

Jeanene was born in Pittsburgh, PA. As a young child her family was very active in the outdoors. Things changed when her parents decided to travel down different paths in life and with that decision so went many of the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Being lucky to live in the suburbs Jeanene always had a backyard to play in and loved being outdoors. As the years passed she took every opportunity to be outdoors. She bought land in Tennessee and as a single mom moved her young daughter to the mountains. The were many life lessons learned on that mountain. There was no plumbing on the property – or even a house, but that did not stop her. She learned to live off of what was available and built her own cabin from the trees on her property. Those were rough years but the most rewarding. Now Jeanene resides in Tampa, Fl. and works as an office manager full time….but still yeans to be outdoors. Jeanene started “Not a Clue Adventures” to teach everyone she could how wonderful the outdoors are! That camping and fishing and hiking can be done by everyone and at many different levels. Single mom’s no longer have to be afraid to take their sons and daughters outdoors. By working with young couples, single parents and even seniors, she gets to teach others about her love for the outdoors and hopes to open their eyes to new adventures. In 2009, Jeanene completed certification as a Leave No Trace Instructor. She also works closely with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) and the Florida State Parks. Jeanene is also certified in First Aid/Adult CPR.
