Florida Pioneer Adventure Camping

Crowley Museum and Nature Center, Indian Field Campground, Sarasota

Partnering with Crowley has been a wonderful venture for Not a Clue Adventures. We are great working partners because we share goals such as education youths and families to the joys of Florida’s natural places, animals and history.

Tatum House

Recently we began offering Florida Pioneer Adventure Camping events. The first 4 nights of camping were a wonderful success! We met families from all over Central Florida. Many new campers and some families the parents had camped but they had not yet gotten their kids out camping.

Making new friends and experiencing new things

Crowley is the perfect location to take these clients! The grounds are kept in wonderful condition and the staff is amazing. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and more than willing to share a meal or time around the campfire talking about the property and the history of the early pioneers that lived here. Many are descendants of the original property owners.

Fireside Fun

As part of the package participants camping equipment is provided and set up in advance of their arrival. Meals are not only supplied but also prepared, meeting many special dietary needs. We also take guided instructional hikes; visit the Pioneer Museum and Tatum House on the property.

Talking Cow

The kids get to see the garden, sugar cane mill and Pioneer Playground. There are even a few chickens, horses and cracker cows handing around. The most enjoyable spots for the children are the Fossil Pit (where they can dig for sharks teeth and other fossils) and the Children’s Discovery Path.

Be a Spider

Here they will learn to soar like an eagle on a small zip-line and see a real eagle’s nest, try to navigate a trail by sound like a bat, test their climbing a web like a spider and more! Parents seem to enjoy the hike out to the Tower overlooking the Myakka River basin and watching the kids chase each other all over the place all day!

Tower

Meals are all served family style and campfire activities are also included, including S’mores. We do not just live on hamburgers and hot dogs either. Some meal options include Baked Ziti, Cowboy Breakfast, and Tennessee Jambalaya.

Making new friends

In addition to the freshly prepared meals there is a Saturday morning Farmers Market that offers fresh cheese, organic vegetables (usually fresh picked that morning) farm eggs, baked goods and much more! There are even baby goats and even some chicks or bunnies for the kids to pet!

Fun on a trail

This is one of our most enjoyable events. Currently we are offering the June 22 or June 23 event at 50% discount of $37 per person (Regular price is $75 over 5 years old). We will be offering this special on specific dates only over the next few months. Please visit our website for more information at http://www.notaclueadventures.com Look for upcoming group events!

About notacluegal

Jeanene was born in Pittsburgh, PA. As a young child her family was very active in the outdoors. Things changed when her parents decided to travel down different paths in life and with that decision so went many of the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Being lucky to live in the suburbs Jeanene always had a backyard to play in and loved being outdoors. As the years passed she took every opportunity to be outdoors. She bought land in Tennessee and as a single mom moved her young daughter to the mountains. The were many life lessons learned on that mountain. There was no plumbing on the property – or even a house, but that did not stop her. She learned to live off of what was available and built her own cabin from the trees on her property. Those were rough years but the most rewarding. Now Jeanene resides in Tampa, Fl. and works as an office manager full time….but still yeans to be outdoors. Jeanene started “Not a Clue Adventures” to teach everyone she could how wonderful the outdoors are! That camping and fishing and hiking can be done by everyone and at many different levels. Single mom’s no longer have to be afraid to take their sons and daughters outdoors. By working with young couples, single parents and even seniors, she gets to teach others about her love for the outdoors and hopes to open their eyes to new adventures. In 2009, Jeanene completed certification as a Leave No Trace Instructor. She also works closely with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) and the Florida State Parks. Jeanene is also certified in First Aid/Adult CPR.
