My Final Florida Summer Vacation Blog 2013

Hey Guys:) This is my last Florida Summer Vacation Blog for this trip. 😦 So my weekend went well! I attended the Florida Hunter Safety Course this weekend.  I had to go to so I could hunt with my Dad and Grandma – and be able to get my hunting license when I turn 16. It was a lot of fun.. I thought that it was gonna be really BORING!

Hunter Safety Class

Hunter Safety Class day 1

We started off with wildlife ID, what wildlife was protected and unprotected in Florida. That part of the class only lasted about 2 hours. The next day we had to learn about, firearms, ammunition, laws, what to shoot, when to shoot, where to shoot a deer, and A LOT more. The final day we had more laws to learn but after that it was time to test what we had learned, we all had to take a 50 question test. I was the FIRST one to finish!! I got 92 out of 100. After the test, we had to do a safety walk.

Safety Walk

Safety Walk

They had rubber snakes and deer and a we learned to crawl over a fence holding a firearm. We had to tell the instructor if we would shoot or not shoot in different situations. I said no because there were two deer one in front of each other. There was a doe and buck, if you were to shoot it is would be illegal and non-ethical. You would have legal deer and one illegal deer.

At the Range

Qualifying at the range

After the walk we went to the range. I shoot a bolt-Action 22. I did well for the target!!!!!! After the range, we all got our hunters safety card – everyone passed the class 😦 I didn’t want to leave…I had A LOT of fun! Grandma said I should thank the Hernando County Sportsman Club for hosting the Hunter Safety Class and all the great instructors. I can’t wait to start watching for the next youth hunts coming up! Here is where you go to sign up for the Youth Hunting Program of Florida .

That was one very fun and exciting weekend.. Comment to tell me how these blog’s have been?? I’m leaving on Thursday 😦 but I’ll be back next summer!!! Thanks for reading…this will probably be my last blog for this summer. But! I will start another one next summer as soon as I come down. Bye for now!!!:)

About notacluegal

Jeanene was born in Pittsburgh, PA. As a young child her family was very active in the outdoors. Things changed when her parents decided to travel down different paths in life and with that decision so went many of the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Being lucky to live in the suburbs Jeanene always had a backyard to play in and loved being outdoors. As the years passed she took every opportunity to be outdoors. She bought land in Tennessee and as a single mom moved her young daughter to the mountains. The were many life lessons learned on that mountain. There was no plumbing on the property – or even a house, but that did not stop her. She learned to live off of what was available and built her own cabin from the trees on her property. Those were rough years but the most rewarding. Now Jeanene resides in Tampa, Fl. and works as an office manager full time….but still yeans to be outdoors. Jeanene started “Not a Clue Adventures” to teach everyone she could how wonderful the outdoors are! That camping and fishing and hiking can be done by everyone and at many different levels. Single mom’s no longer have to be afraid to take their sons and daughters outdoors. By working with young couples, single parents and even seniors, she gets to teach others about her love for the outdoors and hopes to open their eyes to new adventures. In 2009, Jeanene completed certification as a Leave No Trace Instructor. She also works closely with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) and the Florida State Parks. Jeanene is also certified in First Aid/Adult CPR.
