My Summer in Florida Blog 2 🙂 5-27-13
Hey guys:) I’m back…so far “My Summer in Florida” week 2 has been awesome! On Monday we all were recovering from the weekend. I had to weed eat the yard! Yeah it was so much fun…no not really, but I did work in the garden for a few. We planted watermelon, cucumbers, and fixed the tomato cages. Did you know that the leaves and stems of a tomato are poisonous? I didn’t till my Grandma told me! Tuesday was a lazy day I didn’t really do anything…so there isn’t anything to tell you. Now yesterday! Yesterday was awesome, we went to the Florida Aquarium! We saw a whole bunch of birds, fish, alligators, and crocodiles 🙂 The way you can tell the difference between a crocodile and an alligator is the size and shape of its nose. It’s pretty cool; after we went through the Aquarium we went on the Wild Dolphin Cruise!
We were in a boat that looked really fancy! It had an upper deck so you could see all the bay and the inside had AIR CONDITIONING! What kind of boat has air conditioning?? Isn’t that what the wind is for? Anyway I and my Grandma were in the SPLASH ZONE 🙂 how cool is that! I took A LOT of pictures! Even some that could be professional…well in my opinion they could be. We saw three dolphins and only got a picture of one of them :(.
After the cruise we saw the S.S American Victory! It was HOT in there, the S.S. American Victory was a boat used in World War II. They still have the bunks, the bathrooms, the showers, and the captain’s bunk! The captain’s bunk had a picture of him, and his wife in it. His wife looked a little mean 🙂 there was also one of those old coke bottles that was never opened! How cool is that! I wonder how flat that would taste. We followed the yellow arrow path throughout the ship. At the end I took a picture with the wheel thingy that steers the ship! It was cool, we also saw the first women to do work during that time period “Rosie the Riveter”:) she was one strong woman!
This week has so far been really fun! We have a butterfly census to count butterflies , and a camp out this weekend (I get to help teach a class on kids being safe in the outdoors) so I will have more to share on Monday, Bye Guys:)
